My friend Amy posted her new family tradition for Family Home Evening, she is doing this on the 1st of the month. I just absolutely LOVE it, we will be starting it next Monday and I wanted to pass the idea on as I know there are others of you out there that will LOVE it too!
Here is Amy's new tradion and now mine too (Thanks so much for the idea Amy!)
PIE stands for Priesthood Interview Evening.
Your night starts the same with prayer, song and family business. But then each member of the family including mom gets an interview with dad. Mom entertains the kids while others are being interviewed. While mom interviews (last) the children eat the PIE (yes literally what would a PIE night be without a pie?) The children's time with dad consists of talking about "where they're at, who they are, and what they'd like to work on, and building their testimony of how important it is to hold the priesthood." Mom's time with dad includes "talking about the boys and about what we both need to do to make our home a better place for raising them."
And think of the lovely pies you could make. Make choc. chip cookie batter and cook in a pie plate and serve with vin. ice cream, gooey pecan pie - I love mine with hot fudge drizzed on top, coconut with tons of cream, and the list goes on and on... parfaits count too ~ per Amy :)
*****(Amy and I just have boys for now but I would def. add your girls to the interview too. Just think of all the special memories they will have of meeting with their dads and talking.)
