A BOY IS

TRUTH with dirt on his face,

BEAUTY with a cut on his finger,

WISDOM with bubble gum in his hair,

and theHOPE of the future with a
frog in his pocket.

LITTLE GIRLS

Little girls are made of daisies and butterflies and soft kitty cat purrs

And all the precious memories of times that once were.

Little girls are made of angel's wings and giggles and a firefly's glow

And all the happy feelings, deep inside, that we all know.

Little girls are made of cinnamon and bubbles and fancy white pearls

And snowflakes and rainbows and ballerina twirls.

Little girls are made of sunshine and cupcakes and fresh morning dew,

And these are the reasons, little one, why everyone loves you.

Sick

The sick one - that would be me. This medicine - glucophage (sp) is making me want to bury in bed in never move! Constant nautious feeling and everytime I eat I go to the bathroom - and it's awful.

I guess this is so awful because I really don't get sick much. Plus I am lucky where my pregnancies never include the constant I'm going to be sick feeling.

But now I'm worried - and can't wait until Weds Dr appt. There must be something else to try. Plus although the med is keeping my sugar down during the day it's that dreaded morning # that constantly hovers around 115 and needs to be under 95.

I'm worried about becoming too dehydrated from too much bathroom usage, I'm worried about the size of my baby, I'm worried about his sugars when he is born, I'm worried about jaundice when he is born, I'm worried that they will have to give him a bottle to stabilize his sugars which will affect me nursing, I feel so bad for all the pricks in his foot he will have to have now to check his sugars. My poor baby :(

A Failure

That's Me.

I failed my 3 hour glucose testing - badly.

Now on to multiple daily blood testing and strict eating times.

The Dr. is letting me try oral meds 1st rather than going straight to insulin like I did with Justin. Hoping to avoid insulin shots daily - it seems like I just stopped all my other shots.

I am so upset. I guess watching my diet and gaining 0 lbs didn't help one bit! I have until Weds to monitor with diet and pills and then I go see Dr. If that doesn't work I am back for a day of monitorig with the nurses and then maybe insulin again. Then Alex will have to play Mr mom and take a day off to run the kids to wrestling camp and swim lessons.

I don't know why I am so upset - odds are that this would happen :(

Growing and Growing!

We are so excited, our garden is flourishing. Tonight we are having salad with lettuce and toms from the garden.
Pics are of lettuce, carrots, cucs, gr beans, pumpkins, sunflowers, toms, peppers and an orange on the orange tree. Not shown are the pumpkins behind the toms and the shallots which are in front of and kind of hidden by the pumpkins.

No more Peanut Butter for YOU!

Dear Little Baby W,
Mommy loves peanut butter.
It seems that you do too.
When you get some peanut butter, you kick and kick and kick!
Maybe you are practicing soccer?
Can you please kick a little more gentle?
Can you please not kick my bladder?
Cause it really, really hurts.
Or
No more peanut butter for you - or me...

A Failing Body...

I failed my 1 hour glucose test last Friday.

Went today for the 3 hour one - 4 blood draws in 3 hours thank you very much!

I'm sure I failed.

My sugars were checked prior to our IVF procedure and were normal (they do this because high sugars = better pregnancy rate however it also = higher miscarriage rate and... we wanted my embreyos to be sticky!) If sugars are high they put you on metformin.

How can I be failing when I am so careful and haven't even gained a lb and am 28 weeks? Seriously!

I am so frustrated :( And just to add to the pleasure of the day after sitting at Qwest for 3 hours and then getting the kids at school I am sitting here with toes and ankles that have just ballooned up. Really? From fasting and a slice of bread with PB? I am suppose to have a lot of protein today to counteract the wonderfully delicious orange kool-aid glucose drink...

I think I might give up for the day and head to bed now!

Just so you know - I am really happy to be pregnant and love my baby very much and yes, still want to do this again... I'm just having a few cranky days...

He Lost it, He Lost it!

A Tooth that is!

Justin lost his very first tooth at 5 years old. And I must say the one next to it will be going soon :)

He was so excited he was jumping up and down and had to call his grandparents and tell them! He doesn't know exactly when his tooth disappeared - we suspect maybe during dinner while he was eating grilled pineapple. He doesn't even care he has no tooth for his pillow, he is just so excited that the tooth fairy is coming tonight!

My little boy is growing up!

3rd Trimester

Wow, I can't believe how fast this pregancy is going. Half of me wants to slow it down and the other half can't wait for it to be over so I can meet this little man.

How am I feeling? Actually kinda miserable. I am so exhausted from not being able to sleep for more that 2 hours at a time. I can't seem to sleep while the kids are at school and then as soon as it hits about 2:30 I feel like I could fall down from exhaustion.

I failed my 1 hour sugar test Friday. I go tomorrow for my 3 hour test - I just know I will fail - your number is suppose to be under 130 and mine was 172 :(

I have irrational fears that my baby will be 10+ lbs and I am already freaking out about a c-section. I'm sure with the diabetes that leaves out having a Vbac due to not being able to be induced. I have a huge aversion to being cut open...already freaking out about it and Alex has been getting my wrath because everytime I bring it up he rolls his eyes! I told him maybe I won't have so long to stress about it as I'm sure as it gets closer my fear will elevate my blood pressure and maybe they will rush me in - that gets a double eye roll and an, aren't you going to bed yet?

On a positive note we have a def. name picked out for our new little man. No arguing when it comes to the birth certificate, we are in agreement :)

The Cast is GONE!!!

Justin's cast is gone. We are doing a happy dance!
We had a little scare when the cast came off and we had some bloody bandages underneith -he had a few tears escape at how his arm looked and I have to admit I was a little nervous myself.

But... once they removed the bandages we realized it was just dried blood from the incisions and his scar doesn't look too bad.

The surgeon was really pleased with his range of motion - almost normal. He just has to practice bending his elbow and twisting his wrist back and forth. The surgeon was happy to hear he was enrolled in swim lessons (with the awesome Stacey) as swimming will really help to strengthen his arm. He was also told no bikes, skateboards, roller blades etc for 3 weeks - I'm thinking we'll hold off on that for most of the summer. Justin has 1 pressure sore from his cast right below his thumb - kinda of a nice red blister, but the Dr said to wash his arm really good and let some air at it and he should be good.

We have 1 more appt. in 6 weeks for a final xray and a range of motion check. So, so happy that the cast is gone!

Blessed

I am so blessed. Just look at my beautiful boys.

I was sitting here tonight and thinking how blessed I was and how I would do anything for my precious gifts. I was thinking of baby W growing in my belly. How I took 332 pills (not counting prenatal vitamins or folic acid), 148 shots, 83 tampons of cream, 21 patches, surgery, procedures. I thought of how much I love this little man and with every kick how excited I am to meet this new little miracle.

Motherhood is hard, getting pregnant is hard, raising children is hard. But it is the most amazing gift I have ever been given!

4 Generation of Mother's

Here are 4 Generation's of Mother's...
Myself as a 1 month old baby
My Great Nana holding me
My Nana standing
My mom kneeling
This was my first trip over on the ferry from CT to Long Island to meet my Great Nana.

Happy Mother's Day Mom. Thanks for showing me how to be a good Mom.
Happy Mother's Day Nana. Thanks for showing my Mom how to be a good Mom.
Happy Mother's Day Great Nana. Thanks for showing my Nana and Mom how to be good mom's.

It's amazing how Mom's pass love and traditions down through the generations encouraging, showing and teaching us to be Mom's to the next generation.

Mothers

We are all Mother's or women waiting to be mother's. I am so happy to be pregnant and am so excited to be a mother for the 3rd time. But a part of me is sad too. Maybe from hormones or maybe because our IVF procedure is so fresh in my mind... I am so sad for those women who today are struggling to get through the day. Those like a blog friend who yesterday was having her quadruplets at 27 weeks, those who have had miscarriages, those who continue to have BFN (neg. pregnancy tests) after IUI's and IVF's. I am so happy for another who today after her 2nd IVF found out she will be a mother this time!

There is an ensign article that talks about motherhood in my church's magazine (Nov. 2001) the Ensign written by Sheri L. Dew who is the Second Counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency. It talks about how all women are mothers whether they have children or not. (I can't get the link in here but you can cut and paste to read it in full here http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?hideNav=1&locale=0&sourceId=291c8c6a47e0c010VgnVCM1000004d82620a____&vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD

"Nevertheless, the subject of motherhood is a very tender one, for it evokes some of our greatest joys and heartaches. This has been so from the beginning. Eve was “glad” after the Fall, realizing she otherwise “never should have had seed.” And yet, imagine her anguish over Cain and Abel. Some mothers experience pain because of the children they have borne; others feel pain because they do not bear children here. About this Elder John A. Widtsoe was explicit: “Women who through no fault of their own cannot exercise the gift of motherhood directly, may do so vicariously.”

"For reasons known to the Lord, some women are required to wait to have children. This delay is not easy for any righteous woman. But the Lord’s timetable for each of us does not negate our nature. Some of us, then, must simply find other ways to mother. And all around us are those who need to be loved and led."

I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for all his daughters. I know that Heavenly Father is there for each one of us as we strive to become and be wonderful mother's to his children.

26 weeks

Yesterday was my 26 week appt.

0 lbs gained.
Protein in my urine
Slightly elevated blood pressure.

The Dr. didn't seem worried. The blood pressure was only slightly up and he says everyone has elevated protein first thing in am if they don't drink enough water - I had only had 1/4 of my bottle of water on the way in. I had an 8:30am appt and hadn't even gotten breakfast - just got the kids fed and out the door and jumped in the burb and left. Plus no weight gain.

I blame the blood pressure on all the bills pouring in from our broken arm incident - seriously I think if anyone just said hi to us they billed us :(

I hate bills. Maybe I should have this baby at home - I could save a bundle! - ok not really I would be TERRIFIED to do that!
