We had a little scare when the cast came off and we had some bloody bandages underneith -he had a few tears escape at how his arm looked and I have to admit I was a little nervous myself.

But... once they removed the bandages we realized it was just dried blood from the incisions and his scar doesn't look too bad.

The surgeon was really pleased with his range of motion - almost normal. He just has to practice bending his elbow and twisting his wrist back and forth. The surgeon was happy to hear he was enrolled in swim lessons (with the awesome Stacey) as swimming will really help to strengthen his arm. He was also told no bikes, skateboards, roller blades etc for 3 weeks - I'm thinking we'll hold off on that for most of the summer. Justin has 1 pressure sore from his cast right below his thumb - kinda of a nice red blister, but the Dr said to wash his arm really good and let some air at it and he should be good.
We have 1 more appt. in 6 weeks for a final xray and a range of motion check. So, so happy that the cast is gone!

HOORAY!!!!!!
Time to celebrate! (Calmly. With no jumping on the couch.)
Funny!
Want to take a bet on how long it will be before he is bugging me every minute to ride his bike? I thought having the cast off and his arm feeling funny would slow him for a few tonight. But he's already picking stuff up with it pointing with it etc.
The boy has way too much energy combined with a VERY short term memory!
