That is what I have. The right side of my face is paralized. I have a half smile, I can't scrunch my nose and my right eye tears ALOT!! Headache - Yes and sometimes a neckache and the right side of my face is tender to touch. The worst part is having to prop open the right side of my mouth to take a bite of a sandwich so I can get it in my mouth - I won't be eating in public any time soon...
What caused it? Well pregnant women are 3x as likely to get it. Add in gestational diabetes and that increases the odds. Then add in the trauma of an early delivery with c-section surgery. Then add in the stress of worrying about the kids being taken care of while I was in the hospital and Alex not being able to stay in the hospital with me very often between taking care of the boys at night and working. All that led to a huge increase in the odds...
How long will it last - 2 weeks to 6 months - at least for the majority of people! And I am praying that it will not leave any permanent droopiness or nerve damage.
Meds - NOPE. They can give you steroids but I refuse to give up nursing my baby - it is our bonding time and I treasure it...
But regardless - my little precious baby is worth this, even if it lasts forever. I just look at his preciousness and how healthy he is and thank God that it is me who is dealing with health issues and not him!
